SYNOPSIS A small town in the Lower Rhine region in the summer of 1960: Kalli Spielplatz is celebrating his ninth birthday and experiences a summer full of mystery. He sets up a zoo – with a real monkey, keeping it secret from his parents. He believes that he has discovered one of his father’s secrets – what is he getting up to with their attractive neighbor? And he discovers the secret of being in love for the first time – his first kiss. After this summer, a time full of friendship, secrets, love, and happiness, Kalli emerges as a new person. And he knows: a monkey not only provides fun, it also requires a certain responsibility, adults are not always right and girls can be really cool. |
