MEDIA SALLES AT THE 63rd VENICE FILM FESTIVAL

Milan, 1st September 2006

At the 63rd Venice International Film Festival
presentation
of the fourth edition of the course
“DigiTraining Plus: New Technologies for European Cinemas”

Dear friends,

I have pleasure in informing you that on the morning of 6 September during the “Digital Cinema Forum” organised by SMPTE in collaboration with the Biennale of Venice in the “Sala Volpi” at the Palazzo del Cinema,

MEDIA Salles will present
the fourth edition of the course
“DigiTraining Plus: New Technologies for European Cinemas”,

the first and only training initiative which, in the framework of the EU’s MEDIA Programme and with the support of the Italian Government, deals with the subject of new technologies from the perspective of the movie theatres.

Amongst the main topics of the course,
which will be held at the Barco headquarters in Kuurne, Belgium,
from 28 March to 1st April 2007:

an overview of digital exhibition in Europe and worldwide, a close look at 3-D cinema and its potential, European exhibitors’ most recent experiences with technological and commercial issues arising from the adoption of digital technology and a face-to-face encounter with representatives from the world of finance about how to intervene in favour of the transition to digital.

Visits to theatres equipped with digital projectors are another important component of the course, together with group work and more practical sessions – devoted to “hands on” experience with projectors and servers.

The “Training” section of the website www.mediasalles.it gives in-depth information on the first three editions of the course and will be publishing, in the next weeks, useful details for enrolling in the fourth one.

Thanking you for the interest with which you follow MEDIA Salles’ work, I trust that Venice will offer an opportunity to meet many of you.

Sincerely Yours,

Elisabetta Brunella
Secretary General
