Course Venues


The EYE Film Institute Netherlands

The main venue of the course is the EYE Film Institute Netherlands, the Dutch centre for film culture and heritage, dedicated to developing a vigorous film culture in the Netherlands. Through its activities and services, EYE aims to foster a viable film industry in the Netherlands and to promote Dutch film at home and abroad.

The course will take place in the new and modern location of the Institute, inaugurated by Queen Beatrix on 4th April 2012.

The Institute, founded on 1st January 2010, has the following goals:

  • Advancing knowledge about film and related audiovisual media
  • Providing film and media education for children and young adults
  • Increasing cinema-going
  • Supporting the film sector in making a greater contribution to public debate
  • Promoting and highlighting the medium within the arts

The EYE Film Institute Netherlands is located at walking distance from Amsterdam Central Rail Station and the IBIS Amsterdam Centre Hotel.
 

Hotel

The Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Centre, where course participants will be accommodated is located at walking distance from Amsterdam Central Rail Station and in the same area as the EYE Film Institute Netherlands.

Some practical information:
- Free wi-fi available in the rooms, in the lobby and in the bar
- a safe and a hairdryer are available in every room
- there are no blinds, but curtains; those accustomed to sleeping in a completely darkened room are advised to   bring masks
- the hotel is very well sound-proofed, but those who are particularly sensitive to background noise are advised   to bring earplugs
- breakfast is served on the first floor

How to get from Ibis Amsterdam Centre Hotel to the EYE Film Institute Netherlands (length: about 15 mins)

From Ibis hotel, get to Central Station, which is adjacent. Then cross the station in the direction of platform 15 and exit on the Ij riverbank. There, take the boat, free of charge, to “Buiksloterweg” (don't take the ferry going to Ij plein). After disembarking, turn left: the EYE Film Institute Netherlands can already be seen from on board the boat.

On 31st August and 1st September the bus will leave in the area of the Ibis Hotel/Central Station, more exactly, at Prins Hendrikkade in front of the Victoria Hotel.
