Focus on Europe at Cinema Expo International 2004

Speech by Domenico Dinoia, President of MEDIA Salles

GOOD EVENING TO YOU ALL!
I should like to thank the Sunshine Group for this award in recognition of the work MEDIA Salles has been carrying out for so many years, with the support of the EU MEDIA Programme and the Italian Government, on the promotion of European films here at Cinema Expo.
Helping us to discover European films that have been successful on their home markets and are about to be distributed internationally will continue to be one of MEDIA Salles' main commitments.
This occasion, organised together with European Film Production and The Hollywood Reporter, is an opportunity to become familiar with some of these films.
We shall start with 3 trailers and continue with a screening of the film Non ti muovere (Don't move).
We have invited 3 friends from the countries where the trailers were produced to introduce each one.
First of all, I would like to invite the following people onto the stage with us:

from Germany
KNUT STEENWERTH, Member of the Board of the German Exhibitors' Association, to present Head On (Gegen die Wand);

from Spain
JAIME TARRAZON, ACEC, to present El Cid: La Leyenda;

from Belgium
PASCALE DEVREESE, Sales Manager of Kinepolis Film Distribution, to present De Zaak Alzheimer (The Alzheimer case).

I take special pleasure in presenting Non ti muovere (Don't move), a film that has won numerous awards and been a great box-office success in Italy.
Sergio Castellito, whom you will remember for his leading role in films such as Mostly Martha, is director, scriptwriter and actor in Non ti muovere (Don't move), alongside the magnificent Penelope Cruz in an intense and dramatic role.
Following its success in Italy, the film will be released in 30 other Countries: from France to Russia and from Spain to Scandinavia.
We should like to thank Cattleya, the production company, and Capitol Films, the sales agents, for making the print available to us.

ENJOY THE SCREENINGS!
