Barco premieres dedicated digital cinema projector for post production

Kuurne, Belgium, 26 June 2006 – Digital cinema expert Barco is delighted to announce the launch of a new digital cinema projector specifically designed and built to meet the enhanced performance needs of the post production market. The D-CINE PREMIERE DP90P features enhanced image detail and increased color space for optimum image rendering.

Based on 2k DLP CinemaTM technology from Texas Instruments, the D-CINE PREMIERE DP90P projector is the first dedicated post production projector on the market to enable an enhanced color gamut significantly exceeding the current DCI recommended color space. When combined with a Post Production Edition of the D-CINE COMMUNICATOR software, this increased color space provides the production professional the tools to perform at the highest level.

With a contrast ratio of 2500:1, the DP90P ensures increased image detail especially in low light regions. Moreover, with an improved brightness uniformity of greater than 80%, maintenance of brightness across the whole image is ensured. Finally the Communicator Software designed for the post production market allows for the creation of custom built 2D and management of 2D and 3D look-up tables.

With the most available colors in the market to date, the DP90P delivers the highest degree of freedom for the director or colorist and a guaranteed, future proof investment.

The DP90P comes fitted with a motorized lens holder and Constant Light Output software which ensures consistent light output over the projector's lifetime.

You can see the DP90P, premiered at Cinema Expo, Amsterdam 27-29 June, Suite F.
